The Faculty of Humanities at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, Germany, invites applications for the position of full professor (W3) in Social and Cultural Anthropology by April 1st 2010.
The successful applicant will represent the general and comparative anthropology in his or her teaching and research as well as in interdisciplinary collaboration with neighbouring disciplines. It is preferred that the applicant has two regional foci and is oriented towards contemporary and transcultural processes against the background of globalization and migration. We welcome an interest in co-operating with the Centre for Chinese Studies, which is in the process of formation. Further desirable qualifications include at least two thematic specializations such as complex societies, political processes, notions of nature and environmental relations. This position requires fieldwork experience, competence in teaching in German and English, as well as an interest in the internationalization of the discipline.
Applicants must hold a post-doctoral degree (“Habilitation”) or an equivalent scientific achievement. Weight will be placed on didactical skills. The candidate must agree to actively participate in administrative duties.
