Martino Nicoletti, an Italian anthropologist, explains Kulunge Rai’s practice of shamanism in Nepal in his book “Shamanic Solitudes. Ecstasy, Madness, and Spirit Possession in the Nepal Himalayas”. Shamanism is widely practiced among the Tibeto-Burman ethnic groups living in most parts of the mid hills of Nepal. Unlike the world’s two old religions – Buddhism and Hinduism – the Shamanism has its own root and unique rituals.

Schwarze Götter im Exil heißt die Ausstellung mit mehr als 300 Fotografien von Pierre Fatumbi Verger (1902-1996) und einer multimedialen Installation von Mario Cravo Neto (geb.1947), die von einem interdisziplinären Rahmenprogramm begleitet wird.

Schwarze Götter im Exil untersucht die kulturellen Transfers im transatlantischen Dreieck von der Sklavenzeit bis in die Gegenwart. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf Arbeiten visueller Anthropologen, Künstler und Literaten, die sich mit den Kulturen der “Schwarzen Amerikas” beschäftigt haben. Das Projekt veranschaulicht das gemeinsame afrikanische Erbe Brasiliens, der Karibik, Nordamerikas und Europas, wie es sich heute in Musik und Tanz, in Architektur, Kunst und Küche ausdrückt.

Die Auseinandersetzung mit Vergers fotografischem Werk, das erstmals in Deutschland vorgestellt wird, kann ein neues Verständnis von multiethnischen und multireligiösen Gesellschaften vermitteln, das Angstszenarien von ‚kultureller Überfremdung’ entgegenwirkt. (Quelle)
